EL34 NOS

Are you looking for KT88 NOS? You are 25 years too late.

But.... EL34 NOS is still for sale! The process is the same as with KT88, only EL34 is 25 years behind. Could NOS EL34 be found in quantities of 50 pieces in 1990. Today this is over, and they are getting rare. Wait a few more years and they'r all gone.

1960's

Original very old Tesla EL34, decades before the unfamous JJ take over. These have all double halo getters, and old looking brown bases. Some have stamps from the 1960's inside the lid of the boxes. I found the original purchase invoice in the box, but I cannot read much of it, other that they were sold for 58MC, and the seller stamp has the TESLA logo. Perhaps somebody can tell me what currency MC is (please let me know!)

This is prime quality, directly from an old stockroom, full of spare parts.

All tubes are Amplitrex tested, after warm up at 100mA, and checked for stability and then matched. So no quick plug them into a Hickok or something. Amplitrex computer reports are with the tubes. So that is all data and the tube curves. Original blue yellow boxes, and clear printing. Ready packed in Quads and pairs here.

What amazed me so much, was the ease of matching those. With EHX or Sovtek EL34, plate current is very variable, and also it takes a long time before the tube gets stabile. Not so with these old TESLAs. They bias all more or less identical, they reach 90..95mA quickly, and in the next three minutes will reach appr 95...110mA. (Not so with EHX or Sovtek. The initial value is of those is kind of random, and it will take longer to become stabile). WIth the TESLA the production tolerances are obviously much tighter. For this reason matching is included for free, and actually this was little work to do when all tubes are close to being identical.

These have the much wanted VERY large DOUBLE getter rings. So the ones that are so large, they are under an angle to get them in. They flash the complete tube top, so they are a bit hard to see. In this picture here you can see it when you look carefully.

Triode Mode curves of GU50

1980's

You like "another" tube than KT88.... try GU50 (similar to EL152).

This is very powerful tube. It can do 40 Watt continious and , 55 Watt Peak. (Full datasheet here). Good printing, original box. Absolutely excellent Audio tube. Military NOS quality, no commercial tube like KT88.

PICTURES + SCHEMATICS HERE

WE SELL THE SOCKET FOR THIS TUBE ALSO.

They're lower cost and compared to GU50, KT88 is only a consumer tube. GU50 is extremely strong and very low distortion. Amazing quality Russian military old stock.

Note: These cannot directly replace KT88, because the bias setting is another, and also the sockets are another type. We cannot help you with modifications, specially not when you have no idea how to do it. We can only give you the datasheet, and for if you know yourself how to do this. Well, it is easy to do for a specialist.

The bulb is hard glass. It has Four (!) getters, and inside made from hard metal. You can hammer a nail in the wall with this tube. Much different from the fragile KT88. The metal piece can be removed from the top, using a hot air gun, like you use for hair drying. Bake the top, and the glue will get soft then, and brittle away. The bakelit tops you can srew off, and are even nice feet for a small amplifier, no joke, these are lovely made.

300B, 300B-XLS, 320B-XLS COMPATIBLE in Triode mode!

This is the poor man's 320B-XLS. Apart from the socket, and 12.6V indirect heater, this tube in Triode mode can replace 300B directly, and most 300B-XLS and 320B-XLS applications as long as you stay below 40Watt continious.
